Adrian Altenhoff

I am a Senior Resource Manager at the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB), where I lead the development and evolution of the OMA Browser and its surrounding ecosystem. I hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science (2006) and a PhD in Bioinformatics from ETH Zurich, completed under the supervision of Prof. Gaston Gonnet within the Computational Biochemistry Research Group (CBRG). My doctoral research focused on orthology inference, including methods, benchmarking, and applications.

Since joining SIB in 2012 as an embedded bioinformatician, I have been responsible for the OMA Browser resource, contributing to its growth into a widely used platform for comparative genomics. My work lies at the intersection of computational biology, data resource development, and scientific software engineering, with a strong emphasis on building robust, scalable tools for the life sciences community.
